Chicago, IL- Six Chicago Park District ice skating rink locations welcome beginners and experts alike to tát step-out onto the ice and enjoy a favorite winter past-time without breaking the ngân hàng. Bring your own skates, and skate for không tính tiền, or rent a pair to tát spend an afternoon or evening with family and friends at a neighborhood rink or downtown surrounded by Chicago’s breathtaking skyline. Register for programs, including learn to tát skate, rat and pond hockey, and stick and puck hockey, at our five neighborhood ice rinks. New this year, không tính tiền open skate for patrons 50 years and older interested in skating at their own pace.

The Ice Skating Ribbon at Maggie Daley Park, 337 E. Randolph St., officially opened for the season this weekend, and will remain open through March 10, 2024. Maggie Daley Ice Ribbon ticket release dates are available on the trang web here. All other Chicago Park District outdoor ice skating rinks open for the season on November 24, weather permitting. Pre-registration is required for all programs, including open skate. Session capacity is limited and registration will be released on a rolling basis at noon on Mondays. All outdoor rinks except Maggie Daley:

•    Admission: Free 
•    Skate rental: $7 for all ages
 
Maggie Daley Park Skating Ribbon:

•    Admission with skate rental: $16-$22, varies by date. Reduced ticket prices online.
•    Admission with Bring Your Own Skates: FREE-$5, varies by date & hours
•    Skate sida, snowman or penguin, are available for $10 and lockers are available for $3-$5, based on size.

The following programs are offered at outdoor ice rinks (except for Maggie Daley). 

Programs include: 

Drop-In Learn to tát Skate Sessions
Learn to tát skate lessons will be offered before select open skate sessions at most rinks.
Admission: $10; includes skate rental (based on availability) and entry to tát public skate.

This drop-in session provides instruction on the basics of balance, forward stride, starting and stopping, and backward skating.  It is open to tát all ages and to tát both hockey players and ice skaters. Recreational or hockey helmets, gloves and kneepads are recommended.  

Senior Skate - NEW
Open skate for ages 50 and up. Pre-registration is required. Open Skate schedules and blocks are subject to tát change. Admission is không tính tiền and skate rental is $7. 

Stick & Puck and Pond Hockey
This combined program offers 45 minutes of Stick & Puck followed by 45 minutes of Pond Hockey for one price.  
Admission (includes skate rental): $8 per person, $10 for adult & child.

All players will be required to tát wear a helmet (those under 18-years of age must wear a HECC approved helmet with a full-face mask), shin pads, cup and hockey gloves. Skaters must bring their own equipment, including hockey stick. Youth skaters may be on the ice with supervision.

•    Stick & Puck offers open access to tát the ice specifically for practicing stickhandling, skating and shooting skills. No scrimmage games or slap shots allowed.
•    Pond Hockey is more lượt thích the neighborhood pick-up game and is less competitive kêu ca rat hockey. Practice non-contact battling up to tát 5-on-5 skaters. No slap shots or body toàn thân checking allowed and hockey helmets are required. Program is open to tát children and adults and is offered in combination with the Stick & Puck program.

Rat Hockey
Rat hockey is available for adult players, 18 and older, to tát play pick-up games. Full hockey equipment is not provided, but is required.  Slap shots are allowed. Body checking is not allowed. A minimum of eight participants are required for rat hockey play. If eight participants are not registered the program will be canceled.
Admission (includes skate rental): $10.

Sled Assisted Skating
No usage charge; reservations required by calling individual rinks.
Sled assisted skating allows people of all abilities to tát skate together. These specialty sleds for both children and adults are designed with a foot guard, ABS bucket seat, foot rest and pusher handle.  

Silver Skates
This is a không tính tiền tốc độ skating competition for children and adults hosted at various rinks in January. More information to tát come next month.

Indoor Ice Skating Rinks
After the winter outdoor skating rink season ends, ice skating is still available year-round at our indoor facilities. The indoor ice rinks at McFetridge Sports Center and Morgan Park Sports Center are open year-round for open skate, regular on ice sports and programming as well as events.
